A tegzesrovar olyan vízilárvát produkál, amely fejlődő testét selyemszálból és az ökoszisztémájában található anyagokból épített hüvellyel védi meg. Ha másféle anyagok kerülnek a környezetébe, akkor gyakran azokat is beépíti: a fenti képen aranytörmelék, féldrága-és drágakő: türkiz, opál, lapis-lazuli, rubin, zafír és gyémánt is látható.
